Poems and images that speak of a reverence for lighted and lightless domains, outside of the construct within Western Religions that light is “good” and dark is “bad”.
The book is influenced by, and a reflection on, experiences in dreams, meditations, visions and daily life.
It’s dedicated to the unknown authors of the Upanishads, and to Sir Aurobindo, Rabindranath Tagore and Henry Corbin.
Other important influences are the Archetypal Psychology of James Hillman; and the Illuminationist philosophy of Suhrawardi.
The book is in two parts:
- In Part 1, Tales of Darkness and Radiance, there are 48 poems that reflect on the theme.
- In Part 2 are 15 Impressions, which are stamped and other image works that convey a sense of experiences of darkness and radiance.
