Solomon Island Beech, 2008
47 x 14 x 15 cm
Today I finally got the studio lights out and photographed this new wood carving, Home, with better results (after several failed attempts using natural light).
There’s a subtly and beauty about this wood, Solomon Island Beech, which I find hard to capture in a photograph, but in today’s lovely spring light the wood itself is shining.

Thanks so much for your kind words Beverly. Supportive words like these are catalysts for further creativity – they make me turn to my local neighbourhood to find other ways in which “home” is imagined and dreamed by other people…
What an amazingly graceful and thoughtful sculpture! Home as castle, home as refuge, home as impenetrable fortress, home as sheer beauty.
Such a multi-talented talented man!
